The new Ajax Operations Centre is home to the Operations and Environmental Services Department for the Town of Ajax, incorporating all of its divisions under one roof, including Building Maintenance, Fleet Services, and Operations and Environmental Services. The development also includes an 8,277 sq.ft. (769 sq.m) unheated storage building for Sand and Salt as well as a 4,500 sq.ft. (418 sq.m) ancillary building for material and equipment storage.
This new Operations Centre was designed to meet at least a LEED Silver Certification and incorporates sustainable initiatives such as geothermal heating and cooling, a green roof as well as the use of renewable energy sources (a 480-panel, 100 kW photovoltaic system).
