Welland Fire & Emergency Services Facility Needs Study

Completed in 2015, the Welland Fire & Emergency Services Facility Needs Study provided council on a 31,500 square foot facility.
Address: 425 King Street & 153 Lincoln Street, Welland, ON
Client: The City of Welland
The City of Welland awarded the three part Facility Needs Study to KNYMH Inc. (formerly KNY Architects) The intent of the study was to provide council with the necessary information to assist in developing a strategic plan to provide emergency services through recommendations of optimal location, response time and facility needs.
The goals of the study were to:
  • Develop an optimal response station location and equipment deployment strategy.
  • Complete a facility needs assessment for emergency response, administration, training and fire prevention resources considering current and future needs.
  • Develop all necessary details of the preferred facility configuration(s).
The result was a two station strategy with detailed design; one station to act as headquarters and the other a satellite station for specifically selected sites.
