Woodstock Fire Station 1 Renovation & Addition

Completed in 2019, renovations to Woodstock Fire Hall No. 1 plus an additional 7,000 square feet.
Address: 1203 Parkinson Road, Woodstock, ON
Client: The City of Woodstock
The addition and renovation to the Woodstock Fire Hall No. 1 was completed in the summer of 2019 and overhauled the station that has been in operation in 1975. In order to meet the growing demand of the emergency response team, the addition was carefully considered and conducted in a manner that allowed for the project to take place while the building was still in use so as to not disrupt emergency response to the community.

The modernization and expansion of the original building featured an addition to the two storey office and staff area as well as the single storey apparatus for emergency vehicle storage and maintenance. Work involved with this scope included improvements to the reception area, increased office area, administrative, locker, washroom, dormitory space plus a new crew lounge and meeting room. Furthermore, an additional apparatus bay was provided with necessary equipment for vehicle washing plus 2,400 sq. ft. of equipment storage and service space.

The fire station is located in a predominantly industrial area in the town of Woodstock and so materials such as metal brick and glass in relevant colours were used to reflect the surrounding context of the community. Now newly renovated, the Woodstock Fire Hall is a source of pride within the community and functions efficiently to ensure firefighters can look after the surrounding region.
