The City of Brampton and Brampton Fire Services commissioned a facility focused on the specialized maintenance of their city-wide fleet of fire service vehicles within one centralized location;  a unique project for not only the city but within the province of Ontario.

This 32,400 sq. ft. facility is situated on the city’s former works yard site.  With the antiquated buildings and infrastructure removed, the site sat vacant until Brampton A & M was built.

The design of the site satisfies both functional and operational requirements, including an apparatus and maintenance building, ancillary elements and parking for 54 vehicles as well as paved areas to accommodate the maneuvering of large firefighting vehicles.

Designed to achieve LEED Silver status under the LEED 2009 rating system, the facility has many sustainable components including:
  • Compact development footprint - preserving green space
  • Low Impact Development (LID) for storm water management
  • Storm water drainage channel preserved/rehabilitated-naturalized creek
  • Daylighting and views
  • Passive solar-shading devices
  • SolarWall system
  • High efficiency mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems
  • Rain water harvesting
  • Solar-thermal domestic hot water system
  • Regional and recycled materials
  • Designed for future roof-mounted solar photovoltaic system
  • High albedo roofing
  • PHEV charging stations
