Through the RFP process KNYMH Inc. (formally KNY Architects) was selected to fulfill the role of project lead for the design and construction of Belleville’s new Fire Hall/Headquarters and Emergency Operations Centre. The project highlights included:
- Daily operations and support services as a fire hall
- Emergency communications and operations facility
- Incorporating training facilities that are practical and realistic
- ‘Combat Challenge Tower’
- To build on an existing abandoned infill site
- Emergency vehicle maintenance/repair bays
- Dormitories for career fire fighters
- Full range of value-engineering without sacrifice of operations
- Pre-engineered structure
The completed facility includes 6 apparatus bays (3 drive thru), training (‘Combat’ Challenge Tower) and hose tower, reception, communications centre, dorms, kitchen, locker rooms, fitness centre, lounge and administration offices.
