Located along Hamilton’s Gore Park promenade, the next chapter in the story of Hamilton’s iconic Royal Connaught includes the addition of an elegant, new 36 storey residential tower adjacent to the 1914 historic Edwardian style hotel and 1931 Art Deco addition. With architecture that both respects and complements the heritage of the site as well as design features that blend vintage detailing with contemporary materials, the tower addition includes new street level commercial space, underground parking and 8th floor amenities. These features include a Wine/Scotch Bar with Dining/Kitchen, Party Room with Movie Lounge, Meeting Rooms with collaborative work space as well as an outdoor roof-top amenity area. There will be both an underground and bridge connection to the existing buildings.
The design of the new podium is sympathetic, yet distinguishable, using similar textures of stone and brick, a familiar colour palette and coordinated symmetry, height and proportions. Above the podium, the more contemporary tower incorporates transparent glass and spandrel with brick-pattern precast. As Phase 3 of this award winning 5-phase development, the Residences of Royal Connaught continue to shape a new vision for revitalization in Hamilton’s Downtown Core.
