KNYMH Inc. has been pleased to be a part of the revitalization and re-purposing of the renowned landmark building known as the Royal Connaught. The Edwardian style hotel was completed in 1916 and frequented by celebrities and prime ministers alike; it was Hamilton’s premier place to celebrate until it was closed in 2004.
Following several attempts by a number of owners to bring the sentimental structure back to glory, a partnership of distinguished area developers formed Royal Connaught Inc.
The first of a number of phases, this part of the development saw the restoration of the grand lobby and the creation of 127 condominium suites and amenities such as media room, fitness room, party rooms and a fourth floor terrace.
Our experience and expertise with re-purposed projects earned us both the Award of Merit, Urban Design & Architecture Awards 2017 from the City of Hamilton and the Ontario Concrete Award - 2018 Architecture Merit for our design efforts on Phase 1 of the Residences of the Royal Connaught. As well as the 2018 Hamilton Burlington Society of Architects, Achievement in Architecture Awards - Award of Merit in the Heritage or Reuse Category.
